Wilfred Church Kirkharle,Northumberland 2019.08.28

This was part of the Kirkharle Summer Concert Series held in this beautiful old church dedicated to St Wilfrid (634-709AD) with most of the building dating back to 1336  This lovely church is simply built with a chancel and nave with many stones in the chancel having original mason’s marks, a direct link to the 14th century, and the craftsmen who built this church. A sizable  audience turned out for our concert of music from over 500 years of Brass which was very well received. It was a lovely experience to perform in this near 700 year old church which is in an isolated part of the county but has a splendid cafe nearby run by the National Trust!  Many thanks to James Cunningham who joined us on tuba for this concert.
